Joe Pollack worked as a writer more than a half century and dabbled in radio and television. He was a p.r. man in the National Football League, and theater, movie and restaurant critic for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch more than 20 years while serving as the St. Louis agent for several national and regional publications.

Ann Lemons Pollack fell into food writing by accident. She wrote about cooking, eating, shopping, travel and dining out for St. Louis Magazine, the Post-Dispatch and several other regional publications, including St. Louis Dining.

Together, they have written "Beyond Toasted Ravioli", "Beyond Gooey Butter Cake" and "The Great St. Louis Eats Book." Following Joe's death in 2012, Ann authored "Lost Restaurants of St. Louis" and "Iconic Restaurants of St. Louis" before she passed in 2022.
