Watch and don't hit your head on those pipes -- it's dark in here! And the pizza - why is it in a rectangle? It's Rossino's. Or it was.And once home of the stars.

Flashback: Balabans. After 12 years in Jefferson County I returned to the CWE and could not be happier. Jefferson County is a nice place to live if you want the quiet of country living. But AI wanted city living. But I have noticed a drastic change. Visited Hrbie;s Sunday afternoon. I remember Balaban's off the early 1980"s. Would g in there on an late Saturday morning. There would be four regulars line up on their usual stools insulting each other in their humorous ways, It was alway entertaining to hear them banter and knock each other. Very entertaining with the bartender joining in the fray. Made for an enjoyable Saturday. The atmosphere was always light and pleasant.
The atmosphere this time was different. It felt like I entered a morgue and the bartender reminded me of a pallbearer at a mortuary. Don't care to go back. It seems like the atmosphere reflects the mood of the country, lost and morbid.
I hope that other places of my pleasant memories of the CWE are not so bad.
