Pepe Kehm, of Peno Italian Soul Food, has come up with a swell way to celebrate the return to whatever normal looks like post-lockdown. One Monday a month for six months, he's bringing back some well-known chefs of St. Louis' past. Some of them are still working a little, others are living in an active retirement. But it's a star-studded list, starting with Vinnie Bommarito, Vince Bommarito, Jr., on July 12. The dinners will all be served inside, if that's a worry for July dining. Pepe has asked me to come with an armful of both the new and the previous books if anyone wants to buy one or two, and to talk nostalgia with folks.
Prix fixe, including tip but not including tax or beverage, and the tickets will be available online at his website, first come, first served. The tickets for this first dinner will be released at noon on July 4, so move quickly; there are only 35 seats available. Here's the website to get tix.
The lineup now includes Greg Perez on Monday, August 16, Eddie Neill on Monday, September 13, Michael Holmes on Monday, October 18, Brian Young on Monday, November 15, and Lisa Slay on Monday, December 6. A few more details on George Mahe's story on stlmag.com.
This should be a great deal of fun, so clear the calendar!
